Wittman's Weekly: Helping you in 2019

Friend–

We have come to the end of another year, 2019, and what a year it has been! My number one priority is the constituents of the First District and I have been working hard to make sure that my four offices – located in Mechanicsville, Tappahannock, Stafford, and Washington – and I provide the best constituent service as possible. I wanted to take a moment and share with you some statistics from my office since January 1st 2019. If you haven’t been receiving my regular email updates, make sure to sign up here to stay up to date on what I’m doing in D.C. and in the district.

2,425,748 -- The number of constituent contacts I made, including opened emails I sent out, responses to mail and calls, telephone town hall attendees, and attendees of meetings, townhalls, or constituent forums. In September, above, I spoke with families in Caroline County about my work in Congress to strengthen Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs to better prepare students for our modern workforce.

64,427 -- The number of incoming constituent correspondence including emails, letters sent through the mail, and phone calls. Every week I am updated on the top concerns folks reach out about, as well as their sentiments. Some of the top issues include rural broadband expansion, national security, immigration, the environment, and health care, just to name a few. This year, I heard from folks across the First District in my Breakfast with Rob series, pictured above, about the issues that matter most to them, including enforcing our laws, supporting veterans, and working on infrastructure projects. I also provided an update on my work in Congress to accomplish those goals.

53,429 -- The number of responses we sent to constituents who contacted the office including emails, letters sent through the mail, and returned phone calls. While less than the total sent in, we receive many duplicates from some constituents and some folks prefer not to receive a response. If you contact me and want a response, you will get one!

1,085 -- The number of constituents helped with casework through one of my three district offices in Stafford, Tappahannock, and Mechanicsville. Ensuring folks get the best service possible when seeking assistance with a federal agency is something we pride ourselves on. In July, I had the pleasure of meeting with Jean Claude and his wife, Adija, who reached out to my office for help in obtaining a visa for Adija in 2017. Through our assistance with USCIS and the State Department, Adija received her visa in June and joined Jean Claude here in the US. I make it a priority to engage with folks in our area, and I work tirelessly to ensure constituents get the best service possible. If you need assistance with casework or have questions as to what qualifies, click here to learn more.

16 -- The number of bills I introduced addressing topics like the environment, veterans affairs, STEM education, and Congressional accountability. To learn more about which bills I’ve put forward, click here. Above, in August 2018, I presented a bill I had signed into law, the Keep America’s Refuges Operation Act, to the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge, a refuge directly impacted by this important environmental conservation legislation

1,397 -- The number of constituent tours of either the Capitol Building or White House my office has facilitated so far this year. Click here to request a tour next time you are in our Nation’s Capital!

92 -- The number of flags I have sent to constituents. Did you know that for a nominal fee, you can fill out this form to request a flag to be been flown over the Capitol building at my request.

Here, I’m talking with a winner of the Congressional Award in my office in September about her award and all her hard work. Many folks come to visit my office each week, whether on a tour, through a special program, or to talk with me directly. You can request a meeting with me through my website by clicking here to meet in either of my offices throughout the First District or in Washington.

1 -- That number represents my number one priority: listening to the people of the First District who I represent and hearing your thoughts, concerns, and insights to better represent you in Washington. In October, I spoke with folks in Warsaw to hear directly from them about the issues that matter most and to provide an update on my work to incorporate their ideas into the legislation I put forward in Washington. I believe that the best ideas don’t come from DC, but from the folks right here in the Commonwealth; that is why I take every chance I have to speak with you, my top priority.

It's an honor to serve you and Virginia's First District in the People's House. I look forward to hearing from you and serving you in 2020!

Sincerely,

Rob
