MEDIA ADVISORY: Wittman to Host Briefing on VA Facilities Coming to FXBG

FREDERICKSBURG – On December 13, 2019,  Congressman Rob Wittman will host a Veterans Administration (VA) Fredericksburg Medical Facilities Briefing at VFW Post 3103 in Fredericksburg to provide clarification and a timeline for any and all clinics/facilities coming to the area.

The VA has announced it is accepting lease proposals for a VA facility to be built in the Fredericksburg area. In FY2017, the Republican-led Congress authorized the largest lease procurement the VA has ever undertaken – this clinic is one of the 29 authorized projects. The lease prospectus issued by the VA calls for a building with a maximum 426,722 square feet of space. The facility will be a replacement for the two area community-based outpatient clinics, which offer primary care services to local veterans.

Congressman Wittman has been extremely engaged in ensuring this project has continued to move forward, however he feels there must be more transparency and public information for area veterans. Therefore, he is holding this briefing to allow local residents and officials to learn more about the VA’s plan to provide medical care for area veterans.

Participants will include Congressman Wittman, Mid-Atlantic Healthcare Network (VISN 6) Director DeAnne Seekins, and several other representatives from the VA. Following the briefing, the floor will open up for questions from attendees and press. The entire event is on the record and will be streamed live on Congressman Wittman’s Facebook Page. Press planning to attend should RSVP to Kathleen Gayle at Kathleen.Gayle@mail.house.gov.
