Wittman Receives Oscar Mike Award

WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Congressman Rob Wittman was presented with the Oscar Mike Award at the Marine Corps Historic Half in Fredericksburg. This award is given annually to an individual who has made exceptional contributions to the Marine Corps Historic Half, the running community, and the City of Fredericksburg.

“I am humbled to have even been considered, but to be named the Oscar Mike recipient is a tremendous honor. It is a privilege to work on behalf of our brave men and women in uniform and their families.” Wittman said. “The Fredericksburg area has a deep connection to the military and U.S. Navy and Marine Corps family. There is not only Marine Corps Base Quantico, but also Naval Support Facility Dahlgren right in its backyard. There is a natural connection between those serving, those that have served, and those in the community. I’m honored to be a part of that commitment and connection over the last decade.”

The Oscar Mike Award is derived from the military phonetic alphabet for O and M. The Oscar Mike award translates to “On the Move.”
