Wittman Supports EO Easing Veteran Transition into Merchant Marine

WASHINGTON – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) released this statement supporting the executive order President Trump signed today easing the process for veterans to transition into the Merchant Marine:

“It is our duty to take care of those who have valiantly served our nation in uniform. President Trump’s executive order today supporting the transition of active duty service members and military veterans into the Merchant Marine does just that. This executive order makes it easier for sea service veterans to get high-paying, high-skilled jobs as Merchant Marines. By allowing our most experienced seamen and women to seamlessly enter the U.S. Merchant Marine, we are not only helping our veterans but also revitalizing a vital force. I want to thank the president for signing this executive order, and I look forward to its implementation.”

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he serves as the ranking member of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee.
