Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) today voted in favor of the Fiscal Year 2014 Budget Resolution (H.Con.Res. 25), releasing the following statement:
WASHINGTON, DC – Too many Virginians continue to feel the effects of our nation's sluggish job market and weak economy. Many families continue to experience difficulties, especially with the broad, indiscriminate budget cuts, known as sequestration, which went into effect on March 1. Even without the implementation of sequestration, the nation's unemployment rate remains at 7.7% - a figure which, I believe, still represents a jobs crisis.
WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Rob Wittman (VA-1) reintroduced the Permanent Electronic Duck Stamp Act, which aims to permanently make federal duck stamps available for purchase online. Wittman's legislation, introduced on Thursday, would allow sportsmen across the country to more easily obtain a federal duck stamp through an electronic program, rather than requiring an in-person visit to a local Post Office.

In a House Armed Services Committee hearing, a picture of Naval Station Norfolk was circulated, showing five U.S. aircraft carriers and four large deck amphibious assault ships moored to the pier. Various other logistic support ships and surface combatants idled in port.
