September 29, 2008: Congressman Wittman Announces Congressional Tribute to Senator John W. Warner

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today the House of Representatives passed legislation to name the man-made rapids located at the former site of the Embrey Dam in Fredericksburg, Virginia after Senator John W. Warner.

"Senator Warner has served the Commonwealth of Virginia with distinction for nearly three decades.  Among his numerous accomplishments for the Commonwealth and the Nation, as an avid outdoorsman I know he takes particular pride in leading efforts to dismantle the Embrey Dam to open the Rappahannock River to canoeists and fish," said Wittman.

Representative Wittman, a member of the House Committee on Natural Resources, introduced companion legislation in the House of Representatives with the support of the Virginia Congressional delegation to name the rapids on the Rappahannock River after Senator Warner.
