WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) hosted a roundtable with the Virginia Bankers Association to discuss the services they are providing during the government shutdown.
“From missed paychecks to delays in critical services, this disastrous government shutdown has caused significant financial burdens for Virginians across the First District,” said Rep. Wittman. “I had the opportunity to talk with representatives from banks all over the First District about how they are handling the government shutdown and supporting clients at this time. As your Member of Congress, I am committed to providing you with the information you need to make informed financial decisions.”

The Atlantic Union Bank encourages federal employees affected by the government shutdown to reach out to their customer care center as soon as possible to discuss potential solutions. Learn more.
Bank of America is proactively reaching out to clients who have been identified as potentially being impacted by the partial government shutdown. Their client advisors and bank branch employees are able to assist with inquiries as well. Bank of America’s Client Assistance Program offers personalized assistance to clients experiencing financial difficulties.
For existing customers, Burke & Herbert Bank has a loan deferral opportunity as well as short-term unsecured borrowing available.
Capital One is prepared to assist customers impacted by the federal government shutdown. They encourage customers who have experienced a financial disruption due to the shutdown to reach outto discuss their individual circumstances. Assistance provided to impacted customers could include temporarily waiving or refunding certain credit card and banking fees and extending payment due dates on auto loans.
Chase is offering fee waivers and repayment plans for home lending and credit cards, proactively refunding monthly service and overdraft fees to customers with direct deposits tied to federal government accounts.

Old Dominion National Bank (ODNB) is committed to supporting its clients by providing relationship-based guidance and financial planning support to help clients navigate liquidity needs and maintain operations during the shutdown.
