Wittman Statement on President Biden’s State of the Union Address
Washington,
March 7, 2024
Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) released the following statement in response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address: Watch Rep. Wittman’s reaction to President Biden’s address here. “The impact of President Joe Biden's policies on American families has been detrimental from day one. Over the past three years, Americans have suffered from skyrocketing prices, surging violent crime, an unprecedented border crisis, and a dangerously weakened national security. Rather than lay out a plan to restore our economy and keep our families and children safe, President Biden doubled down on his failed policies that have hurt hard working Americans. “Americans are facing record-high gas and grocery bills, making it harder for families to put food on the table and fill up their gas tank. While President Biden claims that ‘Bidenomics’ is working, the reality is that it costs more to drive, work, and heat and cool your home. “President Biden has enabled the worst border crisis in American history. Because of his open border policies and refusal to enforce existing U.S. immigration law, illegal border crossings are at an all-time high, fentanyl deaths are rising across the nation, and crime has skyrocketed in our communities. “President Biden’s policies have weakened U.S. national security and emboldened our adversaries: Afghanistan fell to the Taliban following Biden’s disastrous withdrawal, Russia began the largest land war in Europe since World War II, the Chinese Communist Party continues its military buildup, and Iran has accelerated its support for terror groups like Hamas. “I will continue to push back against the Biden administration’s policies that harm Virginians, change the culture in Washington, and advocate for the families, law enforcement officers, veterans, and brave U.S. service members of Virginia’s First District.” ### |
