Wittman Statement on North Korea’s Spy Satellite Images of United States

Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA) released the following statement regarding reports that North Korea’s new spy satellite captured images of key U.S. sites:

“I strongly condemn North Korea’s latest launch of a military satellite, which violated multiple international resolutions against the use of ballistic missile technology. The pictures the satellite took of the White House, Pentagon, and U.S. aircraft carriers at Norfolk Naval Base in my home state of Virginia were deliberate. The Biden administration must assess the full surveillance capabilities of this satellite — including the resolution of the images it will be able to capture — to determine the scale of the threat it poses to the United States and our friends in the Indo-Pacific.”
