Wittman Applauds Announcement of Action on Benghazi Joint Select Committee

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) released the following statement after U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner announced his intentions for the House to vote to establish a select committee on Benghazi:

“Four families suffered a great loss as their loved ones perished in service to their country in the terrorist attack at Benghazi. These four families still await answers and justice. I am pleased that Speaker Boehner and the House continue to aggressively pursue answers to many lingering questions. I have long-supported further investigation into this issue and believe it is the duty of Congress to exert such oversight over the Executive Branch and hold them accountable for their actions before and after this terrorist attack.”

Wittman is an original cosponsor of H. Res. 36, legislation establishing a select committee to investigate and report on the attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, Libya, authored by fellow Virginian Rep. Frank Wolf (VA-10).

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee where he is the Chairman of the Readiness Subcommittee.
