Wittman Announces Staff Changes

Representative Rob Wittman (VA-1) today announced changes to his Congressional staff:

Jamie Jones Miller will serve in a new capacity as Wittman’s Chief of Staff, effective immediately. Ms. Miller has served on Wittman’s staff since 2008, joining the staff during Wittman’s first months in Congress, most recently serving as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director. Ms. Miller succeeds long-time Wittman Chief of Staff, Mary Springer, who recently departed Capitol Hill after nearly 14 years of service, for the private sector. Springer served as Chief of Staff since Wittman’s first election to Congress.

“I am pleased to welcome Jamie as my new Chief of Staff,” Wittman said. “Jamie’s deep legislative and policy knowledge, sharp focus, keen eye for opportunity and her enthusiasm for our great Commonwealth will be of great benefit to this district. The folks of the First District have been and will continue to be well-served by Jamie’s leadership.”

Miller is a graduate of James Madison University, earning a B.A. in International Affairs, where she currently serves as the President of the JMU Alumni Association. She also serves as the National Vice President of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. Prior to joining Congressman Wittman’s staff, Miller served as Legislative Director for Congressman J. Randy Forbes of Virginia’s Fourth Congressional District. She is a long-time Virginia resident with family ties to the First Congressional District.

Abigail Shilling will now serve as Deputy Chief of Staff, in addition to leading office communications and press efforts. Shilling has worked on Capitol Hill since 2005, serving as Wittman’s Communications Director since 2010, and previously served two terms as President of the Republican Communications Association, an official congressional staff association.

Brent Robinson takes on the role of Legislative Director. Robinson is a long-time staff member of the First Congressional District, for late Congresswoman Jo Ann Davis since 2002, and joining Wittman’s staff after his special election to Congress in 2007. Robinson served most recently as Senior Legislative Assistant specializing in natural resources issues, with a particular focus on the clean-up and preservation of the Chesapeake Bay. Robinson is a graduate of the College of William and Mary.

Stacy Whitehouse joins the staff as Scheduler and Office Manager. She most recently served as Deputy Director of Appointments and Executive Assistant to the Secretary of the Commonwealth. She also previously served as an aide to Delegate Tim Hugo and is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
