Wittman Supports Committee Passage of the TAPP American Resources Act
Washington, March 9, 2023
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) applauded the passage of H.R. 1335 – the Transparency, Accountability, Permitting and Production (TAPP) of American Resources Act through the House Natural Resources Committee. This bill will unleash American energy and critical mineral resources production and modernize the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to expand U.S. energy and infrastructure development.
“In recent years, we have seen America-last energy policies come out of Washington that have had severe consequences for the American people and our national security,” said Congressman Wittman. “Energy security is national security and with America having some of the cleanest, safest, and most efficient energy-producing technologies in the world, there is no excuse for relying on foreign adversaries for our energy. The TAPP of American Resources Act will open U.S. energy and mineral production, as well as expand American innovation and technology development by eliminating the burdensome regulations placed on American energy by the Biden Administration. I’m proud to support such an important bill that will strengthen our energy and mineral supply chains, bring down energy prices for Americans, and establish the U.S. as the world’s energy supplier.”
H.R. 1335 – the Transparency, Accountability, Permitting and Production of American Resources Act was introduced by House Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) which would restart the leasing process for oil, natural gas, and coal development and streamline the permitting process for all forms of energy and development on federal lands and waters. H.R. 1335 would also reform the National Environment Policy Act to establish clarity in environmental reviews; roll back fees on U.S. energy production; and ensure parity in energy revenue sharing for states with onshore and offshore energy development.
