Wittman Statement on Syria
Washington, D.C.,
August 30, 2013
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) released the following statement today regarding the situation in Syria after he participated in a conference call with White House officials. Wittman, Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness, stated: “I have serious concerns with the situation in Syria, and after participating in a conference call with the White House this afternoon, I remain concerned about what the endgame might be for U.S. involvement in Syria at this time. The Administration has still not articulated their goals with potential U.S. military action and dedicated assets. I support a direct discussion and the involvement of Congress as required by the Constitution as this situation continues, and have joined with my colleagues in asking the President to seek congressional approval of any action against Syria.” Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee where he is the Chairman of the Readiness Subcommittee. ###
