WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) released the following statement after officially being sworn in to the 118th:
“Today is a new beginning for the Commonwealth of Virginia and for our nation. This Congress, the First Congressional District welcomes new areas and new constituents that I am looking forward to representing. With the addition of Henrico County and Chesterfield County, I look forward to representing my childhood home. With the addition of Williamsburg, York, and Poquoson, I look forward to once again representing the great people of the Historic Triangle and the City of Poquoson. I am also thrilled to continue serving the people of Hanover, New Kent, the Northern Neck, and Middle Peninsula.
“This Congress, my Republican colleagues and I stand ready to roll up our sleeves and get our nation back on track. Unfortunately, for the last few years, Congress has not operated as it should have. It is time for Members of Congress to be held accountable, be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, and do the job they were elected to do – work for the American people. Between strengthening our hurting economy, rebuilding our national security and position on the global stage, supporting emerging technology and innovation, amplifying STEM and CTE programs for our students and workforce, and more, we have work to do. I look forward introducing and advocating for legislations to support our nation’s veterans, hold Members of Congress accountable to the American people, supporting local businesses and our school systems, and more.
“I understand that my constituents, and all Americans, want to see real work being done by their elected officials, and that is exactly what I plan to do. I vow to work hard for Virginians and to work with local, state, and federal leaders to bring real solutions to the people of Virginia’s First Congressional District. I am committed to getting things done, and it is an honor to serve my constituents in Washington.”
Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he serves as the ranking member of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee.
