RICHMOND, VA – Earlier this month, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) visited the DuPont Spruance Plant, a manufacturing site that produces protection and safety equipment, in Richmond, Virginia. During his visit, Congressman Wittman toured the new production line facility for the Next Generation Aramid (NGA) fiber, an advanced woven fiber for military and law enforcement body armor and met with DuPont staff and the DuPont NGA team.

“It is incredibly important that our law enforcement officers and military servicemembers have the tools and protection they need and deserve for serving our nation,” Congressman Wittman said after the visit. “The folks at the DuPont Spruance Plant have done exceptional work in meeting the demands of the world’s technology and innovation sectors, and their NGA fiber production line is just one more example of how they continue to be leaders in ensuring that our men and women in uniform are equipped with the proper equipment to best carry out their duties. I look forward to the opening of the NGA fiber production line next year, and I am eager to see it aid our nation’s heroes in completing their missions at home and abroad.”

“We were honored to host U.S. Representative Rob Wittman during this recent visit to the DuPont Spruance site.  Rep. Wittman toured the facility and met with some of the 1,800 employees who work every day to make DuPont a leader in advancing technology, innovation, research & development and production. We’re proud of our long-standing commitment to the Greater Richmond community, providing good paying jobs and career-advancing opportunities in STEM fields. And more importantly, we’re proud of the essential materials we manufacture at Spruance that save lives for so many, including and especially our law enforcement, firefighters, first responders and our men and women in uniform. I want to personally thank Rep. Wittman for his leadership on the House Armed Services Committee and for his tireless support of STEM education in Virginia,” said David Ledesma, DuPont Spruance Site Leader.
