WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) hosted mayors from Virginia’s First District for a listening session on what is happening in Washington as well as to better understand the needs of their individual localities.
As the former mayor of Montross, Virginia, Congressman Wittman has a unique understanding and appreciation of the importance of maintaining an open and constant dialogue between the federal government and individual local governments. Given the specific needs of each individual locality, Congressman Wittman understands that Virginia’s local elected officials have a significant role to play in shaping federal legislation to benefit their communities.
During this meeting, Congressman Wittman gave an update on what he is doing in Washington to bring real results to the people of Virginia’s First District. Among these topics were how Congressman Wittman is working to close the digital divide for Americans and what he is doing to fight against harmful heavy-handed government overreach policies that we already see impacting the daily lives of hard-working Americans. The participating mayors highlighted the ongoing needs of their individual towns and communities.
As he told the participating mayors on today's call, these meetings are just one of the many ways that he hopes to work together with these leaders to bring meaningful results to the hard-working individuals in Virginia’s First District.
