Wittman’s Weekly: Looking back at 2020 so far

2020 is halfway over, and what a year it has been! Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, my number one priority has been the constituents of the First District. I have been working hard to make sure that my four offices – located in Mechanicsville, Tappahannock, Stafford, and Washington -  and I provide the best service as possible through these difficult times. I wanted to take a moment and share with you some statistics from my office since the beginning of the year. If you need assistance during these difficult times, please click here to send me a message.

Check out these highlights below from 2020 at mid-year:

4,379,131 is the number of constituent contacts I made this year. From written responses, calls, tele-town halls, in-person and Zoom meetings to constituent forums, this is more than twice the total number of contacts I made in the entirety of last year, which reaffirms my commitment to remaining connected throughout the pandemic.

31,451 is the number of responses we sent to constituents who contacted the office including emails, letters sent through the mail, and returned phone calls.  I am here to listen to you, work on your behalf, and ensure that folks who need assistance receive the help you deserve. Some of the top issues include unemployment assistance, personal protective equipment, small business loans, rural broadband expansion, national security, and health care, just to name a few. If you contact me through my website or over the phone and want a response, you will get one!

22 is the number of bills I have introduced so far this Congress including recognizing front line healthcare workers, protecting the environment, improving veterans affairs, expanding STEM education, and providing more Congressional accountability.

While all of our lives have been dramatically impacted by the Coronavirus, working on behalf of First District constituents remains my top priority. This year to date, my office has helped 549 constituents with casework, and we are actively helping over 600 others! The last number I want to highlight today is 1. That number represents my number 1 priority: listening to the people of the First District and hearing your thoughts, concerns, and insights to better help me represent you in Washington. Even though this year has been trying for many folks in our nation, I am incredibly hopeful that our future is bright. I will continue to work for everyone in my district, and will continue to fight on behalf of our great Commonwealth through these difficult times.

It's an honor to serve you and Virginia's First District in the People's House. I look forward to hearing from you in the second half of 2020!
