WASHINGTON -  Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) issued the following statement following the historic signing of the Abraham Accords, a peace agreement brokered by the United States and signed yesterday by Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. The agreement will normalize relations between the countries and help further the Trump Administration's peace efforts in the Middle East:

“The year 2020 has been filled with many remarkable events. This week, we mark this important milestone in international relations in the Middle East, an agreement that will increase stability in the region and will greatly reduce the influence of our adversaries.

“The historic Abraham Accords will complicate and deter Iranian attempts to spread their malign influence in the region. I am hopeful that these Accords will help to bring a lasting peace to the region, and I know that the United States will continue to stand with all peoples who seek to build a brighter, more hopeful, and peaceful future.”
