Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Rob Wittman released the following statement on Tax Day:

“As Virginians across the Commonwealth pay their taxes today, we are reminded once again of the crippling amount of money taxpayers are sending to Washington.  The federal government will spend $31,406 per household in 2010 – the highest level in American history (adjusted for inflation) according to the Heritage Foundation.  This rate of government spending is on an unsustainable path, and it’s going to be passed on to our children and grandchildren.  Hard-working families have to make tough decisions to prioritize spending and balance their budgets, and so should the Federal government.  I will continue to fight against higher taxes and will fight to protect that which makes our country great – the ingenuity and entrepreneurialism of the American people.”
