Wittman Welcomes U.S. Air Force Chaplain to Serve as Guest Chaplain of U.S. House of Representatives
WASHINGTON – Today Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) welcomed Chaplain Captain Scott Foust of the U.S. Air Force as guest chaplain for the U.S. House of Representatives.
“It is an honor to welcome Chaplain Foust to Washington today to offer the opening prayer,” Wittman said. “He has answered the call to serve by helping Air Force families lay loves ones to rest at Arlington National Cemetery both through coordinating funeral arrangements and providing grief counseling. God calls on us to serve Him in many ways and I commend Chaplain Foust on his service to our nation, our Airmen, and their families.”
Chaplain, Captain Scott A. Foust is a Chaplain at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. As a Chaplain, he coordinates funeral arrangements and provides grief counseling to Air Force families at Arlington National Cemetery. He also works in partnership with the USAF Honor Guard and the USAF Band during the planning and conducting of military funerals. Chaplain Foust is a graduate of Liberty Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1996 by Wolf Valley Baptist Church. He then served as a pastor for twelve years before receiving a direct commission in 2007 to the United States Air Force Reserves. In October 2008, Chaplain Foust entered active duty.
Since 1789, the House has been served by chaplains of various religious denominations. Currently, the position is held by Reverend Patrick J. Conroy who serves as the 60th Chaplain of the House of Representatives. Each Congress, Representatives have the opportunity to recommend a guest chaplain from their district to visit the U.S. Capitol and offer an opening prayer. Rep. Wittman invited Chaplain Foust to be his guest for this Congress.
