Wittman Statement on Passage of Flood Insurance Reform

WASHINGTON – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) released this statement following the passage of H.R. 2847, the 21st Century Reform Act, which reauthorizes the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) for five years.

“Today, I was proud to support House passage of H.R. 2847, the 21st Century Flood Reform Act. This bill includes meaningful reforms to our nation’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) that will specifically affect my constituents in the First District living in coastal areas. I believe this bill takes the steps necessary to strengthen the private market and begins the process of putting the NFIP on sound financial footing. In the end, this bill will not only provide more affordable options, but better options for Virginian looking to purchase flood insurance.”

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he is the Chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee.
