WASHINGTON – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s announcement to repeal the Clean Power Plan (CPP):
“I am pleased with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) plan to repeal the CPP following its careful review of this burdensome Obama Administration regulation. The CPP clearly exceeds the EPA’s regulatory authority, threatening the economic well-being of our energy sector. I believe it is essential that any energy approach must consider the needs of consumers, the drivers of economic growth, the protection of the environment, and the proper role of the federal government. After hearing from people and businesses across the Commonwealth of Virginia, it is clear that through a web of regulations, deadlines, and forced compliance, these rules would ultimately hurt those who are already burdened most, the American people. I stand alongside the 27 bi-partisan Governors who opposed the Clean Power Plan and applaud this important victory for federalism and the American economy.”
Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he is the Chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee.
