May 19, 2009: Congressman Wittman Announces Census Bureau Employment Opportunities

WASHINGTON, DC - Today Congressman Rob Wittman announced the opening of two new Local Census Bureau Offices in late summer/early fall of 2009 to be located in Fredericksburg and Newport News, Virginia. These offices will conduct census operations that will take place in 2010 as mandated by the U.S. Constitution. Each office will be accepting applications from the public to fill a half dozen management positions, along with supervisors and support staff. Once the census has begun, hundreds of citizens will also be needed to facilitate field operations.

"I am pleased to see that well paying jobs will be coming to both ends of the First District. With the current economic downturn, it's important opportunities like these are made available to local citizens," said Wittman.

All positions must pass a supervisory test, be a U.S. citizen, and clear a F.B.I. background check. To begin the application process, visit: www.census.gov/rocha/www/2010emply.html
