WASHINGTON – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) today released the following statement on the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.
"Today marks the end of business as usual in Washington. With Republican majorities in Congress and President Trump in the White House, we have a great opportunity to create lasting, positive change and restore confidence in America again. And our work has already begun. We recently took the first steps towards repealing the failed Affordable Care Act and replacing it with healthcare reforms that actually increase access to care, improve quality of care, and reduce costs. And this is just the beginning.
"In the coming weeks and months, Virginians can expect us to pursue a bold agenda that increases prosperity, boosts job growth, gets our budget back on track, reaffirms our commitment to our nation's veterans, and strengthens our military. As chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, I resolve to work with the new Administration to grow the size of our Fleet to ensure we can meet the reality of the threats facing the United States and to project power around the globe to deter our adversaries.
"Today we move forward in a new direction and I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to do what the people elected us to do: get the work of the nation done."
Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he is Chairman of Seapower and Projection Forces.
