Wittman Receives “True Blue” Award for Commitment to Core Family Values

WASHINGTON – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) has been selected to receive the Family Research Council Action’s “True Blue” Award for his commitment to defending faith, family, and freedom. This award honors Members of Congress who have staunchly advocated for policies that preserve life, protect religious liberties, and promote strong family values. Congressman Wittman scored a 100% on FRC Action’s Vote Scorecard, demonstrating an unrelenting commitment to pro-life and pro-family values as well as other conservative tenets.

“The family is at the center of American society, and at a time when traditional values are under attack, it’s so important for leaders to step up and protect that first source of support and understanding” Wittman said. “I was adopted, and I’ve seen first-hand the transformative power family can have. As a member of the Values Action Team and the Pro-Life Caucus in the House of Representatives, I remain committed to protecting the American family and the most vulnerable among us—the unborn.”

“We thank Representative Wittman for consistently voting to uphold the fundamentals of faith, family and freedom” Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins said. “Rep. Wittman voted to repeal key parts of Obamacare, protect the unborn, end the forced partnership between taxpayers and Planned Parenthood, and protect state marriage laws before the Supreme Court changed the historic definition of marriage.”

“We can be encouraged by elected officials who are willing to be criticized by some in the media and the intolerant voices of secularism as they stand for family values. Congress as a whole is often criticized, and rightfully so, but there are individual Members, like Rep. Wittman, who deserve praise for their unwavering commitment to stand for life, family, marriage, and religious liberty.

“Family Research Council Action and the hundreds of thousands of families we represent are proud to recognize these men and women for their faithful work. Our hope is that in the next Congress, they will be joined by many more like them,” Perkins concluded.
