WEEKLY POLL: Does Congress deserve a paid August Recess?

When I talk with folks in our area, the one thing I hear repeatedly is “Congress needs to do its job and get something done up there in Washington.” Well, with roughly 20 legislative days until the end of the fiscal year, I believe Congress should remain in Washington until the work is complete.

As it stands, Members of Congress will head into August Recess – which some Members use as vacation – and will still receive a paycheck.

That’s why I reintroduced the Stay on Schedule Resolution. If we don’t fulfill one of our most basic responsibilities, frankly, there is no time for vacation.
