POLL: Border Patrol Agents in Sanctuary Cities

Earlier this month, the White House announced that tactical Border Patrol agents will be deployed to 10 ‘sanctuary’ cities across the country. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said the deployment comes in response to policies adopted by sanctuary cities which have made it harder for immigration agents to do their jobs. Additionally, the Justice Department announced a new round of lawsuits aimed at sanctuary cities including measures that limit communications with ICE.

Supporters say that this is the only way to properly protect American citizens and ensure immigration laws are enforced. Opponents to the measure of deploying tactical Border Patrol agents to sanctuary cities, such as Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, claim that it is a bullying tactic.
