My first and most important job is serving you. Here are some ways I can help.
This week, the House of Representatives will be voting to pass another Continuing Resolution (CR) as a stopgap spending measure to keep the government operational past November 21. I believe that this is disappointing, upsetting, and absolutely unacceptable. A CR through December strongly signals another long-term CR to follow, potentially threatening the missions of our armed forces, the work of federal employees, and vital programs for folks throughout our nation. While I firmly believe that we must avoid a government shutdown, I also believe that Congress should pass a federal budget and appropriations bills on time. I think that officials in Washington should be held accountable to do the work of the people on time. I believe that we should never have gotten to this point to begin with, wasting taxpayer money and wasting the time of the American people. Instead of finding temporary fixes and funding by crisis, we should be working tirelessly to reach the end of the funding process.
