I appreciated the opportunity this past week to be in America's First District meeting with many great folks to discuss the issues that are on their minds. In addition to meetings with individuals each day in my offices in Yorktown, Tappahannock, and Fredericksburg, I was also able to visit various workplaces and businesses in the First District to see firsthand the great work being accomplished.
The cleanup of the Chesapeake Bay has been lauded recently, as Gov. Bob McDonnell announced last month that Virginia was "exceeding its commitments" under the Chesapeake Bay Program and was recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency as achieving the greatest reduction of nitrogen pollution in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
