"I'd like to take the opportunity to personally thank all the Virginians and vendors for attending the March 22 Job Fair at the University of Mary Washington in Stafford, VA. In this economy it's so important that we bring together both local and regional employers with the people of the First District to start putting folks back to work. The First District is blessed with a talented and educated pool of job seekers, and it showed yesterday. I was pleased with the large public turnout and am grateful to all the attendees for making this Job Fair possible.

Washington D.C. – This evening, Congressman Rob Wittman released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Senate's version of the healthcare reform bill (H.R. 3590) by a vote of 219-212 and the Reconciliation Act of 2010 (H.R. 4872) by a vote of: 220-211.

Washington D.C. – Today, Congressman Rob Wittman introduced the Toxic Drywall Homeowner Relief Act to aid homeowners in his district and across the U.S. who have been affected by toxic drywall. The tax deductions and credit in Wittman's bill would be available to taxpayers for returns filed for 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Washington, DC – Last night, the U.S. Senate approved Congressman Rob Wittman's bill (H.R. 3433) to amend the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) by unanimous consent. H.R. 3433 would allow up to 50 percent of the non-federal share of projects in Canada to be paid for by Canadian conservation supporters.  In October of 2009, the House of Representatives passed Wittman's bill by voice vote without opposition. This latest action clears the bill to head to President Barack Obama's desk to be signed into law.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Rob Wittman joined 15 of his fellow House members as original cosponsors of Rep. Buck McKeon's legislation to prohibit Department of Defense installations located in the U.S. or its territories from being used as facilities for conducting civilian court terror trials. Top Obama Administration Justice Department officials are currently in the process of searching for a new site to try 9/11 conspirator Khalid Sheikh Mohammed after the people of New York City rejected the decision to hold trials there.  "

Calls will be placed to constituents in the Lower and Upper portions of the First Congressional District. Tele-town halls are a part of an ongoing effort by Wittman to hear directly from his constituents about their concerns as Congress works in Washington.
