Washington, DC – Today, the House Armed Services Committee adopted an amendment authored by Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) aimed at helping military spouses with employment programs and opportunities. The amendment was accepted during consideration of H.R. 5136, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011 (NDAA) and will be included in the annual legislation as it moves forward.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) offered an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) aimed at stopping the transfer of an aircraft carrier from Norfolk, Virginia to Mayport, Florida. Wittman and his Virginia colleagues offered the amendment during consideration of the annual defense policy legislation in the House Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report that demonstrates the Navy's lack of analysis in its Mayport homeporting recommendation. The report is the result of an amendment Wittman offered last year to the 2010 National Defense Authorization Act.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Rob Wittman cosponsored the Earmark Reform Resolution, introduced by Congressman Bob Goodlatte, to reform the earmark process and save taxpayers' money.
"The spending in Washington has gotten out of control, with the budget deficit expected to exceed one trillion dollars over the next two years. We are spending at an unsustainable rate, and this Earmark Reform Resolution takes a small step in the right direction," Wittman said.
