Looking back on the month of November, I had so many great opportunities to visit with our nation's heroes throughout Virginia's First District in celebration of Veterans Day. Our area is home to one of the highest concentration of veterans in the country, and I am honored each chance I get to meet with them and each day I represent them in Congress.

Here in the First District we have both rural and suburban areas - each have their own unique challenges. Suburban areas across the country are expanding. Studies show that most all of the population growth in our top 50 metropolitan areas comes directly from growth in the suburbs and it is critical that Congress respond to their issues. That is why this week I joined with my colleagues to restart the Suburban Caucus - to fight for these suburban families.

WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Rep. Rob Wittman (VA-01) and Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that their bill H.R. 925, the North American Wetlands Conservation Extension Act (NAWCA) has passed the House and is ready for consideration in the Senate. This bipartisan bill authorizes $60 million each year for habitat restoration and conservation projects nation-wide.

WASHINGTON– Today, Congressman Wittman (VA-01) joined U.S. Representatives Ann Wagner (R-MO), French Hill (R-AR), Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), Jackie Walorski (R-IN), and Steve Stivers (R-OH), fellow members of the House Suburban Caucus, to announce the Suburban Caucus's Task Force Chairs. Congressman Wittman will chair the Task Force on Better Transportation for our Future. The Suburban Caucus will be rolling out a member-driven agenda that will improve quality of life in suburban areas across America.

Elaine Luria (VA-02), a resolution designating the National Center of Excellence for research in coastal flooding and recurrent flooding, a partnership among Old Dominion University and William & Mary, including the Virginia Institute of Marine Science and the Virginia Coastal Policy Center at William & Mary Law School.

FREDERICKSBURG - Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) had the latest stop of his "Breakfast With Rob" series at the Paradise Diner in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He kicked off the series in June in Tappahannock and in the months following, he stopped in Kilmarnock, Ashland, and Dumfries. He will continue stopping into local favorite breakfast spots across the First District to talk with folks about the issues that matter most to them.
