(WASHINGTON, DC) - Congressman Rob Wittman announced the award of a $1.5 million grant and a $1.5 million loan to Westmoreland County, which will finance the second phase of a public sewer project.
"With the County of Westmoreland growing at a constant rate, it is our responsibility to continue to provide the best services and cleanest water to our community and its citizens," said Wittman.
"Cutting bureaucratic red tape to increase refinery capacity is critical, both for solving the energy crisis and creating more American jobs. An expansion here at Yorktown Refinery would mean more jobs in the First District and lower gas prices," said Wittman.

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Congressman Rob Wittman, an environmental scientist by trade, has introduced the Chesapeake Bay Accountability and Recovery Act, H.R. 6771, in an effort to fundamentally alter the management of the Chesapeake Bay restoration activities.
"We've studied the Bay for decades and have no shortage of motivation to restore it, but we certainly don't have enough to show for our efforts. We need to execute more intelligently and efficiently, and I think that's where we've dropped the ball,' said Wittman.
H.R. 6599 contains $40.8 billion for the Veterans Health Administration to provide medical care for veterans. It also appropriates another $30.9 billion for veterans' medical services and $5 billion for VA medical facilities.
"Over the last century, the University of Mary Washington's leadership and faculty have built a first rate university and contributed substantially to Virginia's legacy. Today, the University of Mary Washington is an outstanding institution and an invaluable member of the Fredericksburg regional community," said Wittman.
On Wednesday, the House considered the American Housing Rescue and Foreclosure Prevention Act. While this bill passed the House, I voted against it for several important reasons.
