(WASHINGTON, DC) - This is an historic day in America, and I would like to congratulate Barack Obama on his inauguration as 44th President of the United States. The first week of a new session of Congress is similar to the first week back to school after the summer break. Like a student learning where his or her locker is, getting a new class schedule and finding homeroom, a Member of Congress is getting adjusted to the legislative schedule, finding his or her way to a new office, selecting new committee assignments, and learning the priorities of new leadership.

(WASHINGTON, DC) - "I am deeply concerned with the Record of Decision issued by the Secretary of the Navy to create a second East Coast homeport for a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier at Naval Station Mayport. Relocation of an aircraft carrier from Norfolk, VA to Mayport, FL would disrupt families, cause financially irresponsible redundancy in facilities and personnel at a cost of up to one billion dollars, and increase the security demands on our over-burdened fleet.

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today Congressman Rob Wittman reintroduced The Responsible Highway Investment Act (H.R. 457). This legislation will reinstate the requirement for Highway Trust Fund balances to be placed in interest bearing accounts, the method used by the government to manage the Fund up until a decade ago.

"In light of recent government-sponsored bailouts and a record federal deficit, this legislation would immediately generate desperately needed money for our bridges and roads," said Wittman.

Thank you for contacting our office regarding tickets to the 2009 Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2009. This will be a historic event, and we encourage you to attend. At this point, our office has received many times more the amount of Inaugural ticket requests than the number of tickets our office will receive. For that reason, and I am very sorry to say, we have stopped accepting requests for tickets. If you have already requested tickets prior to January 6, 2009 you will receive notification on the status of your request in the coming days.
