April 1, 2009: Congressman Wittman Lauds Naming of Caroline County as Award Finalist
"Caroline County is a wonderful and unique portion of America's first congressional district. I am proud to see our citizens and government work in concert to become finalists for this unique recognition," said Wittman.
"I look forward to seeing the results of this competition in June, and I know that the Caroline team will give the other counties from around the nation a run for their money," added Wittman.
The Caroline County delegation will go on to a three-day competition, June 17-19 in Tampa, Florida, to present its challenges and solutions to a jury of national experts from across the United States. Caroline County is the only city or county from Virginia competing in a field of 21 finalists from Arizona, Arkansas, California (2), Colorado, Florida, Illinois (2), Indiana (3), Iowa (2), Kansas, Maryland (3), Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, North Carolina (4), Ohio (2), Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island Tennessee and Texas.
Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He was elected to his first full term in November 2008 and serves on the Natural Resources Committee and the Armed Services Committee where he is the Ranking Member of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
