Introduction coincides with Vietnam Veterans Day
WASHINGTON -- As Vietnam Veterans Day observances take place across the Commonwealth of Virginia and around the nation, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) today introduced a series of veterans-related bills.
The legislation is aimed at removing administrative roadblocks to Veterans Administration (VA) services and improving the customer experience within the VA.

WASHINGTON - Reps. Rob Wittman (R-VA-01) and Grace F. Napolitano (D-CA-32), members of the House Natural Resources Committee, have reintroduced the Water Resources Research Amendments Act (H.R. 1663) to extend a Federal-State partnership aimed at addressing state and regional water problems, promoting distribution and application of research results, and providing training and practical experience for water-related scientists and engineers.
WASHINGTON – Congressmen Rob Wittman (R-Va.) and John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today introduced Federal Firefighter Flexibility and Fairness Act (H.R. 1363), a bipartisan bill that would give federal firefighters more workplace flexibility.
Named after its first recipient, Senator Thad Cochran of Mississippi, the award recognizes the public servant that best supported the defense shipbuilding industry and the vast industrial supplier base. The decision was made by a vote of ASSA's member companies and the results were near unanimous.
WASHINGTON - Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01), chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces, today supported House passage of H.R. 1301, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2017.
The bill provides $577.9 billion in total defense spending, a $5.2 billion increase over last year, and contains $21.2 billion for ship procurement. Those funds will allow the Navy to procure 13 ships including three DDG-51 guided missile destroyers, three Littoral Combat Ships, and one LPD-17.
