Washington, D.C. - Congressman Rob Wittman today voted in favor of H.R. 3181, the Energy and Water Appropriations Act for 2010. The legislation, which funds agencies and programs under the Department of Energy, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and various regional water and power authorities, passed by a vote of 320 to 97.

Washington, D.C. - Rob Wittman today supported passage of H.R. 3082, the Military Construction / Veterans Affairs spending bill for fiscal year 2010. The legislation passed the House by a vote of 415 to 3.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Rob Wittman yesterday voted in favor of H.R. 2965, the Enhancing Small Business Research and Innovation Act of 2009. The legislation, which reauthorizes the Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer Program (STTR) until October of 2011, passed by a vote of 411 to 15.

Washington, D.C. - Rob Wittman today announced a $1.2 million Federal Highway Administration (FHA) grant for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The money will be used to develop a transportation program for training and job placement of veterans who are undergoing physical and mental rehabilitation.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Rob Wittman today announced a grant totaling $1.49 million for the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) acquisition of Catlett Islands. The competitive grant, disbursed by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association, is awarded as part of the Coastal Zone Management Estuarine Research Reserves.

Washington, D.C. - Rob Wittman today opposed the passage of Cap and Trade legislation that would fundamentally alter both energy markets and the U.S. economy in an attempt to curb carbon dioxide emissions. The bill, H.R. 2454, passed the house by a vote of 219 to 212, with 43 Democrats joining in bipartisan opposition. Wittman released the following statement:

Washington, D.C. -Congressman Rob Wittman voted today in support of H.R. 2647, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010, which authorizes $550.4 billion for standard operations of the Department of Defense (and $2.5 billion for Department of Energy national security programs), as well as $130 billion for funding ongoing military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The House approved the legislation by a vote of 389 to 22.
