To ensure First District seniors are protected, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) sent a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Deputy Secretary Eric Hargan requesting that more direct relief funds be allocated to our nation's nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities as they take care of patients suffering from the Coronavirus, as well as to ensure that we slow the spread of COVID-19.

"As the Department of the Defense moves forward with a deeper review of events surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), we cannot lose sight of the current health of our sailors and what they continue to need as we respond to this pandemic.

Weekly Updates
This week, Congress briefly returned to Washington to pass legislation to continue to fight the COVID-19. This was the first time the full House of Representatives has met since passing the CARES Act at the end of March. Included in the CARES Act was the creation of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) – a program designed to allow small businesses to receive loans to keep their employees on payroll and make ends meet during these challenging times. Since it's roll out on April 3, 2020, there were over a million loans approved by over 4,000 lenders across the country.
