Washington, D.C. – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) today supported the effort for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution. The U.S. House of Representatives debated H.J. Res. 2, the Balanced Budget Amendment, the first consideration of such a measure in 16 years. The bill, supported 261-165, did not reach the required two-thirds majority for passage.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1), Chairman of the House Armed Services Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, released the following statement today after allegations of mismanagement at Dover Air Force Base came to light. Wittman echoed concerns from Richard L. DeNoyer, the national commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. "You only get one chance to return our fallen warriors to their families with all the dignity and respect they deserve from a grateful nation — and that mortuary affairs unit failed."
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) today questioned the draft plan announced by the Obama Administration that closes the opportunity for energy exploration off the coast of Virginia through 2017. The Interior Department released the Administration's draft five-year plan, which prohibits new offshore drilling and only allows lease sales to occur in areas that are already open. The draft plan excludes lease sales of the entire Atlantic Coast, making it off-limits to new energy production.
