Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) voted against H.R. 1 which federalizes American elections and forces states to accept highly controversial election policies.
WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) issued the following statement after voting "no" on the Democrat's Democrats' Partisan Reconciliation Package, H.R. 1319, which passed on the House floor today:
"Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have been clear that any relief funding must be temporary, targeted, and directly tied to COVID-19. It should come as no surprise I voted against the Democrats' Partisan Reconciliation Package as it fails all three criteria.
It is no secret the United States is preparing for global military competition with China, and I am committed to ensuring our Department of Defense and warfighters are ready. I believe in peace through deterrence, but if we are to succeed in that endeavor, we must have the capability and capacity to deliver force where needed.
We stand at a critical juncture in our nation's history. We are about to decide if the United States retains its global primacy or if we concede our position to those of malign intent. In such pivotal times, it is a sincere honor to announce I have been named the Vice Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee.

WASHINGTON – Recently, Governor Ralph Northam announced $29.6 million in grants awarded through the Virginia Telecommunications Initiative (VATI) to deliver high-speed internet access to many rural, unserved, and underserved Virginians. This first round set of awards totaling $29.6 million will go to 11 localities through 5 projects. One of the projects that received an award was the Northern Neck Planning District Commission.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) issued the following statement on the budget reconciliation process:
"After months of calling for unity, I was optimistic we would have a chance to work on the budget in a bipartisan manner. But bipartisanship is a two-way street, requiring we work together to find common ground for the better good. From what we've seen of budget reconciliation thus far, it appears those calls for unity were really calls for conformity. Working across party lines should not require we abandon our principles in the process.
On January 20th, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were sworn in standing in the shadow of the Capitol dome in Washington, DC. Our Republic remains strong, and it is now time to get to work and continue the American tradition of respectful debate and disagreement to achieve results for the American people.
