Dear Friend -

Last week I sent a letter to the White House. My message was simple: protect the Chesapeake Bay.

Specifically, I, along with a bipartisan group of concerned members of the House, asked President Trump to include $73 million for the Chesapeake Bay Program in the Fiscal Year 2018 budget. The letter also states how critical federal funds are for the continued health of the Bay, and I hope the White House takes our request seriously.

You can read the rest of the letter we sent to the White House below.

Unnecessary regulations are continuing to strangle the American economy. Instead of protecting consumers, workers, and the environment, these regulations are increasing the power of government agencies and driving up the costs of compliance for Main Street. In fact, we have so many unchecked regulations, it is nearly impossible to keep track of them all and there is red tape everywhere that prevents companies from growing and hiring.

Hi Friend-

Americans spoke louder than ever to say: Washington needs to change the way it does business and I agree. I am fully dedicated to representing the constituents of the First District. I will continue to work hard to ensure that Veterans receive the benefits they deserve; that we bring jobs back to the hard-working men and women of Virginia; that we preserve and build our military strength; and that we meet the needs of our dedicated federal employees.

Friends -

Knowing that many of you share my concern and interest in health care policies and public health, I wanted to update you on my recent work in this crucial area.

Public health is one of my top priorities as I serve you in Congress. In fact, a large portion of my professional life was spent in the public health field. I earned a master's degree in public health and worked for 26 years for the Virginia Health Department so I understand many of the challenges people face when it comes to accessing quality, affordable care.
