WASHINGTON- Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1), Chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, released this statement following today's joint briefing with the Readiness Subcommittee titled "Progress Report—Fixing Navy Surface Fleet Readiness:"
During my Healthcare Listening Tour, meetings with individual constituents, constituent groups, health care providers, and other stakeholders in the district, I have continually heard one thing—the cost of prescription drugs is far too high.
Fortunately, this administration has signaled that they are committed to lowering prescription drug listing prices and taking the burden of cost off of the consumer.
President Trump has called on Congress to cancel August recess if we don't pass all 12 appropriations bills to fund our government. I couldn't agree more!
In fact, for years I've introduced legislation to do just that. If we don't fulfill one of our most basic responsibilities, there is no time for vacation. The American people want us to get the job done.

Wittman Receives Award for Support of Maritime Industry
WASHINGTON – This week, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) was selected to receive the International Propeller Club Legislator Award for his longtime support of the United States maritime industry. Each year, the International Propeller Club selects one member of Congress who has demonstrated consistent support for the maritime industry and the United States-flag Merchant Marine.

I grew up enjoying the natural wonders of the Chesapeake Bay and know countless people, including my son, who make their living on the water.
