WOODBRIDGE – Last week, Congressman Rob Wittman hosted the inaugural meeting of his First Congressional District Career and Technical Education Task Force. He created this task force to address our regional issues in regards to better preparing students through Career and Technical Education (CTE) to meet the current and future needs of our workforce.
WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) testified in front of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, advocating on behalf of our nation's veterans. The First District is home to one of the highest growing veterans populations in the country, while also supporting several bases as well. As a member representing so many men and women who have made incredible sacrifices for our nation, serving our military and veterans is Congressman Wittman's priority.
LANCASTER – This week, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) hosted his second Community Broadband Field Seminar in Lancaster County as an opportunity for underserved and unserved communities and neighborhoods within the area to learn more about the funding and resources available at the state and federal levels to help bring broadband to their citizens. He has served as a leader in both Virginia and in Congress to close the digital divide and bring broadband to the unserved populations of America.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01), Co-Chair of the Rural Broadband caucus commended the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on its approval of an order establishing the Digital Opportunity Data Collection. This proposal would require broadband providers to offer more detailed information on where they provide coverage and where they do not. It also institutes periodic challenge processes to help increase the quality of maps.
FREDERICKSBURG – Yesterday, Congressman Wittman provided the keynote speech at the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce's Transportation Summit held at the University of Mary Washington. The purpose of the summit was to discuss transportation issues in the Fredericksburg area – mainly congestion, access to commuter rail, and crumbling roads and bridges. KILMARNOCK – Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) had the latest stop of his "Breakfast With Rob" series at Lee's Restaurant in Kilmarnock, Virginia. He kicked off the series last month in Tappahannock and will continue stopping into local favorite breakfast spots across the First District to talk with folks about the issues that matter most to them.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressmen Rob Wittman sent another letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urging her to keep the House in-session through August to complete critical legislative items.
