Washington, DC – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) welcomed over 900 job-seekers and over 50 employers actively seeking new employees at his First Congressional District Job Fair on Tuesday. The Job Fair was held in Hampton at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center.

"Our goal was to directly connect folks seeking employment to employers, and I was so pleased to see such a fantastic turnout," Wittman said. "National unemployment stands at 9.1% in May, and while Virginia fares better with 5.8%, many folks across America's First District are still seeking an opportunity to return to the workforce.

"It was also valuable to hear directly from those affected by our struggling economy. I will continue to support policies in Washington, DC, to promote job creation, efforts to reduce spending and measures to reduce the red-tape for small businesses to succeed. We must make every effort to create more certainty to get our economy moving again."
