Monday, February 10, 2020

WASHINGTON – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) visited JBG Smith's Marketing Center to see the site plan for Amazon's HQ2 in the newly named National Landing. Attendees included JBG Smith executives and members of the Amazon team. The entire Northern Virginia region will benefit from important infrastructure projects, including the construction of additional entrances to the Metro stations at Crystal City and Potomac Yard, improvements to Richmond Highway (Route One), a connector pedestrian bridge from National Landing to Reagan National Airport, and a transitway expansion supporting Pentagon City, Crystal City and Potomac Yard.

"After seeing the plans for Amazon HQ2 and the surrounding area, I am even more confident that this development will further fuel this region and the Commonwealth's success and growth," Wittman said. "As many future employees will reside in the First District and commute, I was very interested to hear about the important future infrastructure investments to be made. Transit alternatives such as commuter rail, walkable and bikeable paths, and Metro connectivity are crucial for our region's economy to thrive. I am committed to working with stakeholders like Amazon, as well as my colleagues in Congress, to enact real results for folks in our region."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he serves as the ranking member of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee.
