Wittman Statement on the Resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki

Monday, June 2, 2014

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) made the following statement on the resignation today of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki:

"Today's resignation by VA Secretary Shinseki is the first step in holding this Administration and those responsible accountable for the unacceptable treatment of our nation's veterans. There is much more that must be done to reform the culture and management of the VA to ensure our nation's veterans receive the care they have earned and deserve.

In the weeks and months to come we must not lose focus or attention towards fixing the problems with the VA. Today is the first step in the journey Congress and the President must take to fix these problems once and for all."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee where he is the Chairman of the Readiness Subcommittee.
