Wittman Statement on Tax Reform Proposal

WASHINGTON - Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) released the following statement in response to the introduction of the tax reform proposal released by the House Committee on Ways and Means:

"Throughout this tax reform process, I am committed to making sure we help our small businesses and working-class families. It is time for Congress to deliver a tax reform plan that will give our economy the boost it so desperately needs. This proposal simplifies our broken tax code, while putting more money back in the pockets of hard-working Americans. Once this reform passes through committee, I look forward to its consideration on the House floor."

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act includes streamlining tax brackets from seven to four, doubles the standard deductions for all Americans, establishes a new Family Credit, and lowers the tax rate for both corporate and small businesses. Bill text is available here.

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he is the Chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee.
