Wittman Statement on Resignation of OPM Director

Friday, July 10, 2015

WASHINGTON – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) released the following statement today after Office of Personnel Management Director Katherine Archuleta tendered her resignation:

"Our public servants deserve to have confidence that their personal information is being protected. They also deserve accountability from those entrusted with protecting that information, and I am glad that Director Archuleta has decided to step down. This breach significantly threatens our national security. Our nation's enemies are constantly testing our security systems for weakness, and OPM needs strong, decisive leadership that recognizes the instability of today's world. At the same time, those who have been impacted should have timely and accurate information about OPM's actions to protect them against fraud and theft of personal and financial information."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he is Chairman of the Readiness Subcommittee.
