Wittman Statement on Rep. Goodlatte's Retirement

WASHINGTON – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) released the following statement today after Congressman Bob Goodlatte (VA-6) announced that he would not seek re-election to Congress at the end of this term:

"Today, after 25 years of unbelievable service to our Commonwealth and this nation, Bob Goodlatte announced he would not be seeking re-election. Bob exemplifies the qualities of both a statesman and a servant leader, and we have been blessed to have him representing our state. As Chairman of both the Judiciary and Agriculture committees, he has fought to advance policies of fiscal conservatism, personal liberty, economic growth, and limited government.

"Bob has been more than a colleague; he has been a friend. It has been my privilege to serve these past ten years with someone who fought so tirelessly to better our nation, and I know that he will continue doing so for the remainder of his term. I look forward to serving beside Bob for the remainder of the 115th Congress and to many years of friendship as he returns to home."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he is the Chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee.
