Wittman Statement on President Trump's First State of the Union Address

Tuesday, January 30, 2018

WASHINGTON - Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) released this Statement following President Trump's first State of the Union address:

"Tonight, President Trump made clear his priorities to make America safe, strong, and proud. Chief among those, rebuilding our military and giving them the resources necessary to complete their missions. Now that President Trump has detailed his policy objectives, it is time for Congress to take action. In 2018, my legislative priorities will be to fund and build towards a 355-ship Navy, increase Congressional accountability by advocating for spending bills to be passed on time, rebuild our infrastructure to include improving access to broadband for all, and implement policies that will bridge the workforce skills gap. We also must continue to strengthen our economy and create more, higher paying jobs for all Americans.

"I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House to advance these priorities as we strive to create a safer, more prosperous future for our Nation."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he is the Chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee.
